Nurse/Attorney Ridge began her career as a labor and delivery nurse at a local community hospital in Massachusetts where she worked for approximately 8 years. She cared for patients in all phases of pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum.

Attorney Ridge went on to obtain her law degree from New England Law| Boston and began her legal career at a medical malpractice firm in Boston. At this firm she specialized in pursing claims involving mothers and babies whose injuries occurred during pregnancy, labor and delivery or after birth.

Attorney Ridge worked as a risk manager at a tertiary medical center in Boston for several years. She is familiar with the inner workings of hospitals and the response to adverse medical events and errors. She has facilitated onsite surveys from government agencies (DPH, CMS) investigating adverse events at hospitals. She is experienced in investigating adverse events and reporting events that qualify as serious reportable events (SRE) to the Department of Public Health.

Attorney Ridge returned to plaintiffs medical malpractice with a continued passion to help those harmed by medical errors and hopes to prevent similar errors from occurring in the future by effectuating change through medical malpractice claims.

Benjamin Novotny

Benjamin R. Novotny is a partner at Sweeney Merrigan Law. He is a devoted Jury Trial Lawyer and has tried more than 95 complex tort cases, almost all being in the field of medical malpractice with the exception of a few catastrophic personal injury claims. To date, he has won well over $200 million in verdicts and settlements.

Novotny has won several multi-million dollar verdicts on behalf of his clients including but not limited to:

$40+ million verdict (with interest; 2015 largest verdict in MA & 20th in the U.S.)- Larkin v. Johnston – Jury found a physician’s negligence caused a 28-year-old woman to suffered a stroke hours after childbirth.
$30+ million verdict (with interest)- Xu v. Tufts Medical Center – Jury found Tufts Medical Center doctors negligent in care of newborn, leaving infant with debilitating condition.
He also brought forward the well-publicized Messier v. Bridgewater State Hospital case, resulting in a $3 million settlement and sweeping changes to mental health care in the prison system.
Ben was called in last minute by co-counsel to serve as lead trial attorney in the Zaw v. The Iowa Clinic in which he won a $2 million jury verdict for his client who was given an incorrect vasectomy instead of a circumcision.
Estate of Zoe Rosenthal v. Charles J. Davignon, et al.: In April 2021, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ben & Nick Rowley won a $9.5 million verdict obtained on behalf of two daughters whose mother was negligently killed while walking her dog in a crosswalk near her home. According to the court clerk, this result set a record for a non-economic damages verdict for wrongful death with adult heirs in Western Massachusetts.
Novotny’s successes have been recognized by several publications throughout his career. Most recently, he was named 2018 Lawyer of the Year by Lawyers Weekly. From 2016-2018, he was listed as a Super Lawyer, published by Boston Magazine. Prior to this, he was selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer Rising Star (2009-2015) in Boston Magazine. In 2014, Attorney Novotny was chosen as Up & Coming Lawyer by Lawyers Weekly.

Novotny was born and raised in Norfolk, Nebraska. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.S. Environmental Biology), cum laude from Vermont Law School (M.S.E.L.), and cum laude from Suffolk University Law School (J.D.). While attending law school, he was active in various student organizations including serving as Vice President of the Student Bar Association.

Attorney Novotny has extensive knowledge in multimedia trial presentations and demonstrative exhibits, and has lectured at Continuing Legal Education seminars on the topic of medical malpractice, personal injury law, and technology in the courtroom across the US. Bradley M. Henry focuses on wrongful death, catastrophic personal injury & commercial property loss cases. In 2016, the US Supreme Court let stand a $63 million trial verdict ( $148.5 million judgment) — the largest such verdict in Massachusetts history — won by Henry and a former law partner against a global pharmaceutical company for devastating, life-long drug reactions suffered by a child.

From 2006 to 2009, Henry served as Plaintiffs' Liaison Counsel in Boston's "Big Dig" tunnel ceiling collapse case of DelValle v. Bechtel that resulted in a $28.1 million settlement. From 2010 to 2015, he successfully represented the families of three US Special Forces soldiers in a wrongful death shooting at a remote base in Afghanistan. From 2018 to 2022, he served as Co-Liaison & Class Counsel in a record-breaking $143 million settlement of the Merrimack Valley Gas Explosion.
