Goodwin & Scieszka is a Michigan law firm that specializes in personal litigation matters. We have been winning cases for over 27 years.
The Law Offices of Goodwin & Scieszka have a long history of practicing personal injury law in Michigan, winning numerous cases with settlements and arbitration awards numbering in the millions of dollars. Hot on the heels of graduating from Michigan State University College of Law in 1986, Scott Goodwin was admitted into the Michigan Bar and opened up his own practice. Since then he has earned numerous awards and been bestowed with the prestigious honor of being named President of the Michigan Association for Justice in 2014.
After being named President-Elect of the Michigan Association for Justice in 2013, Scott Goodwin started his one-year term as President of MAJ on July 1, 2014. The Michigan Association for Justice is a non-profit membership organization “dedicated to furthering civil justice and providing services that allow our 1,800 members to better represent their clients – the people of the State of Michigan.” They aim to make legal services available to everyone. Under the leadership of Scott Goodwin, we know they can.
In 2006, Scott Goodwin was recognized by Super Lawyers, “a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.” This title comes as the result of independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. Since 2006, Goodwin has continued to be a Super Lawyer for his work in personal injury law.
On three separate occasions (2009, 2010 and 2012), Scott Goodwin was named a Top Lawyer in the area of auto accidents, trucking accidents and dog bite claims by DBusiness, Detroit’s premier business journal. Every year DBusiness polls a large pool of attorneys from the Metro Detroit area and asks them to nominate lawyers among a wide variety of legal specialties.
Free Law Day is an annual event hosted by The Law Offices of Goodwin & Scieszka where lawyers volunteer their time to provide pro-bono legal advice for the community. Free bicycle helmets, expertly fitted by the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, are also provided, not to mention free smoke detectors donated by ACE hardware and free food. To top it off, the event is broadcast over the radio for all to hear. Free Law Day has been a tradition of The Law Offices of Goodwin & Scieszka for almost 30 years and will continue into the future.
