My clients are established and emerging production companies, distributors, and creative individuals who work in film, television and digital media.
As their legal counsel, I provide them with proactive and practical advice, based on my years of experience in media production, broadcaster business and rights management, and law.
Before launching my own entertainment law practice, I worked at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where I drafted and negotiated agreements related to in-house and independently produced programs, distribution, and special events, as well as advised on tax credits, Canada Media Fund matters, treaty co-production structuring, and other production financing issues. I also practised in litigation on Bay Street and articled at one of Canada's largest law firms.
I started working in the media industry 20 years ago, when I joined CJAD Radio as a journalist, first reporting on-air in Montreal and then filing stories as a political correspondent from the Quebec legislature. Following my time in radio, I moved into television news and documentary productions that aired on the CBC, the National Geographic Channel, and the History Channel.
With my affinity towards the creative community, the goal of my entertainment law practice is to help creators grow and be more empowered.
